In Chapter 9 of BBG the importance and benefit of revision is explained. Many people write a first draft just to get their ideas out and in some kind of a format. With revision of one’s own works you are able to strengthen and clarify your writing in the best way possible to get your ideas across. In the text they mention authors statements and how they can help when you are reviewing your own work as a way to critique your work which in turn translate into other skills useful in many setting outside of writing. While you're in your own work is beneficial peer review is another way to strengthen your writing. With peer review you're able to have Outsider eyes looking and critiquing your work. sometimes when you review your writing you get numb to what you have written and you tend to look over things and not noticed that it is a problem. When you have others reviewing your writing with fresh eyes they will pick up on things quicker and more efficiently. Peer reviewing can be beneficial in many ways, you can also be beneficial for you as a writer to review other people's work as you can learn from many different styles of writing. when you review and your work gets reviewed it opens up mini doors to your item that you never knew existed. It is a great way to hone in on specifics in your writing and better your work. Though some people feel ashamed about asking for others help or embarrassed having others read their work in the end it gives new insights and truly helps in one's work.
